Counters

Counting to Five

In my last post, I discussed looping. I referenced checking the condition to see whether your code should keep looping or not. This is usually done with a counter (i).

for (var i = 0; i < 3; i++;) {
	performSomeAction();
}

Look closely at the i++ piece. ‘++’ is a shortcut for incrementing. Every time the loop runs one (1) gets added to the value of ‘i’. So ‘i’ starts at zero (0), then goes to one (1), then two (2), etc. This will alter the condition and help control how often the loop runs.

FYI, you can also decrement using ‘–‘.

Happy Coding!

A gentle intro to the Credential Management API

The Credential Management API lets your site securely store and retrieve user credentials through the browser’s built‑in manager—no brittle autofill hacks required. In our demo, a successful login stores a PasswordCredential, and a single click later retrieves and auto-fills it for returning users. It’s a progressive enhancement: your form still works everywhere, but supported browsers deliver a faster, lower-friction sign-in. Pair it with proper autocomplete attributes today, and plan for WebAuthn/passkeys to level up tomorrow.
